In 1863, the parish was placed under the patronage of Saint Brigid of Ireland, a nod to the origins of the first settlers. Located on the Montmorency River, the community benefited from logging on the lands of the Séminaire de Québec. By the late 1940s, eight sawmills operated on its territory. The current church dates from 1949.
