After the Great Upheaval of 1755, Acadians coming mainly from Beaubassin and Île Saint-Jean were taken in on the lands of the seigneur Michel-Jean-Hugues Péan de Livaudière, in the parish of Saint-Charles-Borromée. In 1756, they were given land in the Première Cadie. French Canadians and a few Britons joined them later.
