In the early 19th century, settlers moved to the banks of the rivière Jaune, where it crossed the road to Stoneham township; the settlement was named Rivière-Jaune. Notable George Muir, who spent his summers there, bought a lot in 1869. He funded a convent for the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in 1871, then a chapel in 1875, which still stands.

Around 1900, brothers Luc and Jean-Baptiste Pelletier settled here. Luc Pelletier’s sawmill, supplied with logs floated down from the Lac-Beauport and Stoneham forests, gave rise to a lumber industry. In 1909, the parish was established on June 15, and the parish municipality of Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides was founded; Luc Pelletier became its first mayor.
In the mid-20th century, the territory was divided up with the creation of Lac-Saint-Charles in 1946, Charlesbourg-Ouest in 1952 and Orsainville in 1953. In 1965, Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides became a town. The area kept a low-density pattern, mostly on flat land in the south and in the valleys between the hills.
In 1976, the town was merged into Charlesbourg along with Orsainville and Charlesbourg-Est, and became the Laurentides ward. On the evening of September 30, 1991, a fire destroyed the church; the new church opened on December 8, 1992. In 2002, Charlesbourg was merged into Québec City, and the neighbourhood’s population grew from 10,280 to 14,825 between 2001 and 2021.
